All our breeds are great layers and family friendly. It is your choice and personal preference which breed you choose. You may choose to have a mix of breeds (each colour), different breeds get along fine with each other. The only thing to consider is the age of the birds as different ages do not mix well (older hens may pick on younger chicks).
Chickens can live 5 years or longer. The main difference between the breeds is the length of their laying ability, some will lay eggs for as long as they live, others will lay for 2 years and soon after stop laying altogether.
All our breeds will happily wander around your backyard or farm, and they cope well with living in a coop.
If you want the added excitement of watching your chickens hatch, we also sell fertile eggs and incubators. Pure breed chickens will go Broody and hatch fertile chicken eggs or give her our day old girl chicks.
We also sell meat chickens and day old cockerels are also available.
